Reglan use in certain cases has been to result serious side effects including Tardive Dykinesia.
What is Tardive Dyskinesia?
Tardive Dyskinesia is a slow-onset (“tardive”) movement disorder (“dyskinesia”) characterized by repetitive, purposeless, involuntary actions, especially of the face, mouth, and eyes. Grimacing, eye rolling, lip pursing and puckering are all common. The limbs and extremities may be affected as well. Tardive dyskinesia is known to be difficult to treat. It is best known as a side effect of various long-term or high dosage use of some medications, especially older antipsychotics. The relationship between these medications and the onset of Tardive Dyskinesia is not entirely understood; it is known that ceasing a medication after the onset of symptoms does not necessarily decrease symptoms.
